PACA Live Packs Diversity

Erin Phillips

The diversity in musical artists and genres at the PACA LiVE Concert Series has been astounding from week to week, with performers coming from near and far to take the stage for one-hour sets, viewable in person at 1505 State St. or from the comfort of your home on Facebook Live.

January lineup a musical melange

Perhaps you've heard of Performing Arts Collective Alliance (PACA). Perhaps you've heard they've been streaming live musical performances nearly every Sunday evening since the summer of 2020 as part of their PACA [LiVE!] Concert Series. But have you listened?!

If you had, the diversity in musical artists and genres from week to week would astound you, with performers coming from near and far to take the stage for one-hour sets, viewable in person at 1505 State St. or from the comfort of your home on Facebook Live

Should you physically attend, admission is completely free of charge (although donations are welcome), with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and shows beginning at 6. If you miss a performance, you can catch up on PACA's YouTube channel. (As of this publication, there have been a whopping 115 installments, so hopefully you have some leisure time available.)

Continuing the long-running trend, the PACA [LiVE!] January 2023 lineup is incredibly varied, so be sure to pop by or tune in.

Sunday, Jan. 8 — Battalion of Cloudships

Battalion of Cloudships is piloted by producer Andrew Todd, who commandeers an impressive array of sliders and knobs to bend synthesized sound to his will. At times ethereal, at times overpowering, his improvised soundwave formations reverberate through the listener with cinematic verve.

Sunday, Jan. 15 — Ralphie's Gone Blind

Shoot your eye out? Suffer the irreversible side effects of soap poisoning? Well at least you still have your sense of hearing — for now. Raphie's Gone Blind specializes in a brand of punk that is raw and LOUD. A frequent feature at Philly on the Rocks (another local haven for original music), Ralphie's Gone Blind will rock your socks — and fuzzy pink bunny slippers — off.

Sunday, Jan. 22 — Storms Within

Over the past year, Storms Within has been steadily building momentum toward their debut album, *Minds of the Wicked, and is ready to sweep the shores of Lake Erie with its potent blend of tunefulness and aggression. The rhythm section of Ron Dickum (drums) and Mike Lohse (bass) provides ideal conditions for powerhouse vocalist Erica Mayr and guitarists TJ Wurst and David Cilluffo to wreak sweet havoc on your earholes.

Sundays, 6 p.m. (doors 5:30 p.m.) // PACA, 1505 State St. (2nd floor) // Free // Stay tuned for future show announcements at paca1505.org/live
